Basic Facts Driller iPhone App

There are a lot a rather dull, mundane items of knowledge we all need to know by heart at one time or another, from states and their capitals to synonyms and antonyms to the multiplication table. The Basic Facts Driller attempts to help you commit these rather boring facts to memory with a variety of simple drill activities. When learning isn't fun it we can at least make it quick and painless, like a super-fast dental drill.
The Basic Facts Drill app only works on iPhones and iTouch. View in App Store. (You might not be able to view the iTunes store if you don't have a mac)

You have three activities
  • Review a simple presentation of the facts to read and study
  • Mix and Match a simple, fun connect-the-dots drill using these facts
  • Multiple Choice a standard test of knowledge
Test Type
If you take the drills untimed, each item is presented once. After the drill you have the option to review those items you missed, and get retested just on those you missed. You can repeat this process until even the most insignificant bit of data is drilled in your cerebral cortex.
If you take a drill with a time limit, you can set the time and you will be quizzed on as many questions as time allows. You are given a count of those you got correct and incorrect. If you are used to tracking scores on a precision drill chart this is the data you need.
Test Data
At the bottom of the main screen you have the choices for drill data. Including
  • States and capitals
  • Nations and capitals by continent
  • Synonyms, 12 lists of increasing difficulty
  • Antonyms, 12 lists of increasing difficulty
  • Multiplication table facts
  • additional lists of facts your teachers probably want you to put in your brain.
The About screen can be ignored, as it just repeats what you're reading here.

The Review screen gives you a scrolling list of whatever facts you have selected to study from the list at the bottom of the opening menu.

Start out with a simple little Mix & Match. Use your finger to connect states and capital cities or word to the synonyms or chemical names to their formulas.

Wrap things up with the some rather standard multiple choice questions. You can do it timed or untimed. If you do the drill untimed you have the option to review what you missed and get retested.
