June 18, 1999 - New format!
Well, updating this website has gotten to be a real chore. I do not use frames, so as I add pages all previous pages have to be updated. So, from now on, I'm just gonna stick a "BACK" link at the bottom that will return you to the main page. This way, I only have to create the new page & update my index page. Plus, the pictures will be bigger.
Pissy(adj) - See Heather
Why am I pissy. Well, take
a look at this picture:

Here's a shot of the front door of the house. We're really happy with the way the front porch worked out. The little window above the entrance was unexpected. |
Pop quiz.
#1 - What is missing in this picture?
Answer - doors,
shingles, siding, walls, fixtures, etc.
#2 - Does this look like a house
that will be completed by the end of the month?
Answer - NO!!!!!!
So much for contracts & deadlines. Joe managed to pin down our builder who now *finally* admits that the house will not be ready by the end of June, much less the end of July. We've (sort of) got him committed to just under 90 days, which will put completion in late September. All my plans for summer break involving moving into the new house and getting the old one fixed up are shot. Also, the interest rates are rising, so we just had to drop a large sum of money to lock the interest rate on the future mortgage. I can go on and on as to how the new deadline has really screwed up my life, but I won't. Suffice it to say, I've lost most of my enthusiasm for the building process and it's at the time when I need to be really involved with the house.
Here. Look at some pictures.
Pardon the scathing commentary when applicable.

Here's the right side of the house. That's Sarah's room on the right (in case you haven't figured it out by now.) I can't get a full shot of the front of the house, because of... |

The dumpster!
It's sitting right in front of the house, so I can't pull back enough to get a full shot of the front without it obscuring part of the house. Suffer along with me... |

Da left side of the house. That's the garage on the far side. |

Kids' side of the house. The window order got messed up.
It's tough to see, but the front windows have mullions. (Thanks Marji
for providing the word!) The side windows should, but don't.
The architect draws a very nice front elevation of the house in detail, including the clapboards and windows with mullions. For the side and rear elevations he doesn't go into the same detail. So the window dealer assumed we wanted mullions for the front windows only. The framers installed the wrong windows since that's the best way to store them! The windows will be replaced when the new ones arrive. |

Da garage & master suite side of the house. The thin window is in the master bathroom. We thought it would be a bit bigger, but it's actually rather nice. |

Our builder's pride & joy, even though it was our idea. This
is the back porch. The tree is why the door off the porch will be
to the right, not centered on the rear wall.
Our builder has gotten more compliments about the porch than any other feature of the house. |

Joe's pride & joy - what will be the attic (actually, just a portion
of it). I can understand his enthusiasm. Our biggest problem
with our current house is storage. Problem solved right up there.
Gee, wish I could muster a bit of enthusiasm... |
And here's the new link I promised:
Like the true masochist I am, I'll probably retro-fix all the previous pages as well...but not tonight.
