! Apparently died youg, but after the 1830 census, where two malesbetween 0-5 yoa were menti oned, and also after deed of trust, recordedJuly 1831, in which he was mentioned. No recor d has been found of himsince that time; however, a John Christian Smith was found as a stude ntat the South Carolina College/West Wing Rutledge College (now theUniversity of South Caro lina) in Columbia. He was a junior (3rd year)student from Richland County, SC. Using norma l student age estimationswould make him approximately 20-22 yoa at that time, and thus bor n inabout 1837/1839. This may be 10 years too young for this J. C. Smith, butmore researc h is needed.

! 1880 census record for Orange County, Florida (The Smiths were nowliving in Umatilla; howe ver, Lake County was not established until 1887)listed W. A. and family. Eleanor Southwell Edwards was born in Ga., probably Screven Co. Life as apioneer may have been too much for her, though she endured it for elevenyears.
The Edwards Family Cemetery where Eleanor Southwell Edwards isburried is situated in NW Marion County, Fl., SW of Fairfield.
There are two stones for "Eleanor M. Edwards, Daughter of Rev. JohnL. Southwell, Wife of W.P. Edwards". William Webb's (descendant ofEleanor Southwell Edwards) grandfather told him that the original woodenmarkers were lost in a woods fire, that the exact site of his mother'sgrave was not known. Apparently someone later placed stones on the ninegraves. Maybe there was a disagreement about the site of Eleanor's graveand two different heirs placed stones. His grandfather never mentionedthat. He thinks he may have not known.
