Ventricular Fibrillation

==================================================

Ventricular fibrillation (V Fib) also has many ECG forms but is commonly represented as being "sawtooth" in shape. It is an erratic, chaotic pattern of QRS complexes. The ectopic foci which create this condition stimulate the ventricles randomly, preventing them from contracting. The ventricular musculature appears to "quiver". There is no cardiac output. Therefore, this condition is life threatening. The patient loses consciousness immediately. Cardioversion must be used to terminate this arrhythmia.
