mitral valve is attached to the left atrioventricular
annulus. It has two unequal triangular leaflets which separate
the left atrium and ventricle. The left ventricle is 
separated
by the aortic leaflet of the mitral valve into an inflow
tract posteriorly and an outflow tract anteriorly.
